MY MONEY

MY MONEY: “Every man also to whom God hath given riches and wealth, and hath given him power to eat thereof, and to take his portion, and to rejoice in his labour; this is the gift of God.” ‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭5:19). I have heard people say “ It is my money: I can do whatever I want with it. I need to save. I have bills to pay. I don't have to tithe, or I don’t have to help if I don't want to”. They may THINK they are right by saying this but according to the Bible, actually is not our money. Who provided you with the job? There are verses in the Bible that talk about money. I guess to remind us it is a blessing from God when we give and that we have to give and not be greedy. “He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity” ‭‭(Ecclesiastes‬ ‭5:10‬).  In the Old Testament we see when God gave His people laws about tithes and offering. You may say those offerings are not the same! They were food offering...

WOMEN OF THE BIBLE: SARAI (SARAH)

WOMEN OF THE BIBLE:    SARAI (SARAH) “Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised” (‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11:11‬). When I think of Sarah, I try to imagine how she really was. The Bible describes her as “very fair to look upon'' meaning very beautiful. Her beauty wasn’t only from the outside but also from the inside. She was humble, selfless, virtuous, obedient but she was also impatient. “A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: But by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken” (‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭15:13). She had a very strong faith but also doubts. Very similar to almost all of us. Because of Sarah’s beauty, Abraham was scared that someone would kill him and take his wife. I guess we forget sometimes that God is always protecting us, and we try to do the job for Him. When we do the job for God nothing comes out right. The Bible tells us God will fight fo...

DO GOOD

DO GOOD “Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin” (James‬ ‭4:17‬). Have you been across where you saw something that needed to be done? Anything from picking up, cleaning, helping? Or something like sharing the gospel, caring for someone, showing affection, anything you may think of… doesn’t it feel good when you do it and it gets accomplished? Doing good brings a special blessing to the heart. God loves it when we do good and He blesses us. “But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased” (Hebrews‬ ‭13:16‬).  I sometimes have tried to ignore things because I am so tired. I do not want to do it because I either think no one else cares or everyone sees it but waits for mom to do it. It kind of gets upsetting when we have that thought that "someone else will do it".  In the end, I still try to do what was ignored by someone else.  I think we all have been in this situation where we are t...
WOMEN OF THE BIBLE:  EVE “And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living” (Genesis‬ ‭3:20‬). Do you know that we are good at convincing, blaming and hiding? As sinners, I believe we all have those abilities, and it does not matter if you are male or female. We are persuasive, in other words liars. We make people believe that something is true even if it is not, sometimes we do it for our benefit. If something does not come out the way, we want; we blame someone else. If we do something wrong, we hide. Even little children do that. When I read about Eve, how she was persuaded and tricked by the serpent to go against God. Everything changed by her mistake. It is easy to blame her for all the bad that happens around us. If she would have chosen to obey God; run away from the devil, and if she would have not introduced Adam to the sin we would be without sin: "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so, death pass...

WHERE IS IT?

“If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you”       (John‬ ‭15:7‬). I remember when I was a little girl. I saw on tv a doll that closed her eyes when you laid her down, my eyes got so wide as I became mesmerized. I wanted that doll! I asked my parents if they could buy it for me but they said maybe, so I waited and waited. It is not fun to wait when you really want something! But I kept on waiting. One day my dad told me he was going to buy it for me and I was so excited but what I really wanted to know is when I was actually getting it. I was getting impatient and losing my hope. The only thing I could do was keep on waiting. Finally, one day after school my dad asked me to go downtown with him. We took the bus and we walked and I’m sure we had a conversation. The only thing I remember when we arrived at the store was all the toys and everything was stacked nicely. It was like heaven! My dad asked the clerk to sh...

GOD MADE A LITTLE MISTAKE

GOD MADE A LITTLE MISTAKE “And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day” (Genesis‬ ‭1:31‬). We may say right away no way, how can you say or ask that? Then, why do we make it seem that God makes mistakes? Have you ever looked in the mirror and said; I do not like this or that? I wish I could change this! Why do I have this or don’t I have that? We, little by little, start finding things in our body we do not like; but why? When God said he made us “VERY GOOD”, perfect, beautiful.  Beauty in society is not what beauty is supposed to be, and we have fallen into their ideas. If we think about it, even models don’t like what they see, that’s why they get plastic surgery. “Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: But a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised” (Proverbs‬ ‭31:30)‬. Have you asked yourself, why am I like this? Why am I so skinny or fat? Or, why am I this color? I ha...

MY FRIEND

MY FRIEND “ Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends” (John‬ ‭15:13). Growing up I had friends come and go, especially when I was in elementary school. I remember I never wanted to be in the house because I just wanted to play and spend time with this particular friend. We only had one or two hours to play each day because she was always busy. She helped her mom with their little business in the afternoons so we did not have enough time to play. We grew up together and got very close, we had so much in common. We would play with dolls and make their little clothes. We liked to run so we had races, I always liked to win! We played hide and seek, we talked about everything girls talk about. We always had so much fun! When things got bad in my birth country, my parents had to sell the house and we moved to another town. That was so sad because I knew I was never going to see my friend and true enough I never saw her again. In the new town we m...

MY FAITH LIKE DRIVING A SEMI

MY FAITH LIKE DRIVING A SEMI “ Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness” (Isaiah‬ 41:10‬).  For the ones that don’t know what I do for a living, I will tell you. I drive a 48-foot semi, hauling sugar. Sitting behind the wheel on a semi truck feels nice because you can see so much more than when you’re in your car, you even feel taller. I do! I have driven in good and adverse weather: beautiful sunny days, foggy days, thundering days, and my favorite ( just kidding ) snowy days. I enjoy driving when the roads are dry and the days are sunny. I usually start before sunrise; every day is different and beautiful. I love to see the twinkling stars in the early morning, the shooting stars and the color change in the sky; from orange to red burgundy. And that gorgeous blue sky! Every day is an art to remember. I always say to myself, “God really...

I AM 18 I SHOULD LEAVE

I AM 18. I SHOULD LEAVE “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh” (Genesis‬ 2:24). This is a very hard topic to talk about because there are many, many reasons why some young adults move before marriage and they have their parents' blessing. I want to share what I think about the ones that leave just "because". No one has to agree, it is just something to think about. Some typical words of an emerging adult;  “I can’t wait to turn eighteen to leave”, “I hated it here”, “I won't listen to this anymore when I’m gone”, “I’m an adult I can do whatever I want”. Why? Why is it that even our children say that? Is it pressure? Is it society? Definitely not Biblical. In my birth country, Guatemala , you won’t typically hear these opinions. I don’t personally remember anyone saying; I can’t wait to leave my parents house! Maybe it’s because we rely ...

WHAT KIND OF A MOTHER AM I?

WHAT KIND OF A MOTHER AM I?   “Every wise woman buildeth her house: But the foolish plucketh it down with her hands” (Proverbs   14:1).   The Bible shows us two kinds of mothers: but which one am I? A good mother or a bad mother. Which one are you?   As a wife and a mother, we may think this doesn’t apply to us; listening, obeying, following rules, talking back,    or whatever else you can think of. You could say I am an adult who cares about what I do or say. You are right you are an adult but remember; who’s watching and paying close attention?   The Bible is very clear on how we can build or destroy our children without us noticing. Children are OUR REFLECTIONS. Believe me it’s true. When my grandchild was staying with us, we were sitting at the table she was eating and I was on my phone. I saw through the corner of my eye that she was copying every little thing I was doing. I was putting my hands on my head. She did the same, I yawned, she yawned t...
